Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) has become synonymous with the removal of brown spots and sun damage from the skin.  IPL refers to any light-based system that uses filtered light to a treat a condition on the skin. Most IPL systems are designed to treat the most common signs of sun-damage: brown spots, redness, and texture that is dry and rough. These particular treatments are also known as “Photofacials”.

IPL is a non-ablative treatment which generally means that the treatments have little or no downtime. IPL treatments are done as a series of 4-6 treatments. Treatments are affordable, comfortable, and patients can resume most activities immediately afterwards. Your skin can feel warm and tingly post treatment and will be slightly red.  Many brown spots will darken immediately after the treatment and will gradually disappear over 7-10 days. These reactions are most intense with the 1st and 2nd treatment of a series.

At Forever Young Laser, we use the Solar Genesis by Cutera and the Chromolite by Genesis. Both treat sun-damage extremely well and we have found that the Chromolite has a very beneficial effect on active acne as well.
