Vein Therapies & Rosacea

Over time, some vessels on the face become enlarged and visible. This can be caused by age, sun-exposure, pregnancy, trauma, and rosacea. Generally, these unsightly veins are not dangerous, unless they are varicosities that protrude or are accompanied by swelling or pain.
Laser treatments are used to treat smaller spider veins, especially on your face and the upper body. Red spider veins, also called telangiectasias, respond extremely well to laser treatments like Cutera’s Excel V which combines two wavelengths (532/1064) to treat the widest range of vascular concerns. This treatment can be done alone or often is used in conjunction with sclerotherapy to treat vessels of different sizes.
Rosacea/Diffuse Redness/Facial Veins
The rosy cheeks which grace many of us New Englanders are often the first sign of a chronic skin condition known as rosacea which can expand to include acne, broken capillaries, and tissue swelling. Lasers have been used on this diffuse redness or rosacea successfully for several years.
Typically, 4-6 treatments greatly reduce the appearance of this red flushing over the nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead. Treated early, this flushing can be minimized and maintained and can prevent much of the small capillary breakage seen later. Laser treatments can also treat the acne that may accompany Rosacea.
At Forever Laser & Skin Center, we use several different lasers (Cutera’s Excel V and XEO) and IPL (Viora’s V30) as well as aminolaevulinic acid (Levulan) to customize treatments.
Cutura’s Excel V provides excellent results as it combines two wavelengths (532/1064) to treat small fine facial vessels as well as the larger purple vessels found around the nose or on the body. The two wavelengths allow for a custom treatment for each client.
Cutera’s XEO includes the Laser Genesis and the Nd:YAG which are both widely used to treat vascular conditions. Both applications are 1064 wavelengths but the Laser Genesis combines a patented microsecond technology to protect the skin’s surface so the laser can safely treat the diffuse redness that resides there. The Nd:YAG is used to treat larger vessels on the face and body. The XEO also includes the Limelight IPL used for redness as well.
